OUR FUNDRAISING EFFORTS
You may ask why you should donate to a granting foundation rather than directly to a nonprofit you support. By no means are we advocating that you should stop donating directly to nonprofits you support. On the contrary – these organizations often have great needs that can only be met through a multitude of donors and supporters and we encourage you to continue to donate to them.
But what about the nonprofit organizations you have never heard of? What about the small nonprofit organizations that can barely meet their needs, much less spend time and money to market their good works and solicit donations? What if you have money to donate and you just do not know where to start? What if you are unsure about the nonprofit to which you wish to donate, and you just wish someone else had done some due diligence on it?
These are all questions we answer and address through our efforts. We ensure that local nonprofits continue to receive the vital funding they need above and beyond individual donations and nonprofit-specific fundraising events.
Because of this and as a nonprofit organization our self, we rely on donations and fundraising to support our granting efforts. We do this through events and fundraising efforts. We are constantly evaluating our events and exploring new ideas so check back here often for information on our events!
Texas Big Star Half Marathon & 5K
Our original fundraising event, the Texas Big Star Half Marathon & 5K began in 2016 and continues today. It is the first and only distance run in Frisco, Texas and it also has 5K and 1-Mile options. It takes place every April in partnership with Collin College and the Collin College Foundation. With more than 1,500 runners annually, hundreds of volunteers, and tons of community support, this is a signature event that you do not want to miss! You can learn more at the Texas Big Star Half Marathon & 5K website.
Christmas With The Phantom
In December 2019, we debuted Christmas With the Phantom, which was an evening of Christmas music by David Gaschen, long time Phantom of the Opera performer. The evening included drinks and desserts, as well as a silent auction. We had several hundred attendees for this intimate evening to celebrate the holidays and the evening was a success that raised thousands of dollars for our granting efforts.
On-Going Fundraising Efforts
We participate every February 14 in the Give for Frisco campaign organized by Lifestyle Frisco, which is an event to highlight the many amazing nonprofit organizations in Frisco. Although the campaign focuses on a February 14th giving day, you can donate to the North Texas Community Giving Foundation any time at our Give for Frisco page.
North Texas Giving Day
We participate annually in North Texas Giving Day put on by the Communities Foundation of Texas every September. We hope you will join us in donating to the North Texas Community Giving Foundation that day!
